While in general, the posthumous coinage issued “in the style of Alexander” is generally very common, that does not negate its historical interest in the least! This particular type for example is tied to a very compelling historical period. Often labeled as “Alliance” coinage, Price and Melville Jones mentioned that this coin is representative of the 3000 drachma presented to the city of Kolophon as stated in the “preamble of the freedom given to [K]olophon by Alexander and Antigonus Monophthalmos”!
