Coinage from the Roman Republic is largely anonymous despite knowing the name of the moneyer. In most cases that is all that is really known. This coin, struck in c. 157-6 BC is truly anonymous. Many of the earlier coins of the Republic were struck anonymously. It was only later that the names of the individual moneyers and allusions to their family were symbolized on the coinage.
